On her way, back to the class room in the hallway passing the gym, she collided with someone, rushing out of the gym with a few other students. She raised both her arms in front of her chest to protect herself. »Hey, watch out where you are going! «. She immediately fell silent, as it was Gabe who run into her. Apologetically he touched her shoulders with both hands. Her skin felt as if it had just been burned by fire. She flinched, and he gave her a disarming smiled. His green eyes beaming friendly. »Sorry«, that was all he said, but his eyes darkened a little and once again got this infatuating look which she had seen before. »It's fine! «, she quickly looked away, and her eyes fell on his strong hands which had touched her shoulders before and then on his biceps and finally got caught on his dark blue shirt under which she could easily make out his chest and abdominal muscles. The t-shirt read »Naked I look even better. «
Well, she could imagine that. After all, this was not only Gabe the charismatic megalomaniac but also the greatest player in the school maybe even outside of the school. Who knew who else had given into his charm? She let go of this thought and returned to the classroom. Maybe she should call Gregory and tell him that Gabe was obviously trying to hit on her. They would laugh about it together. Well, maybe she should leave out the part where she was aroused and confused for a moment. Maybe a good idea all things considered? It was probably better not to call him at all since he finally had a good lead concerning the amulet. After school, she sat down on one of the wooden benches to wait for Brooklyn who was still at cheerleader practice. Such a long distant relationship wasn't easy not even under normal circumstances, but even less with an immortal guy, and with the arch enemy of the immortal one starting to hit on her it became awkward and complicated.
She sighed closing her eyes. The sun was shining and warming her. She leaned back and enjoyed the warmth. The baulks squeaked when someone sat down next to her. It seemed like Brooklyn had arrived. Leyla kept her eyes closed and still enjoying the warmth; »How was practice? «
»Thanks for asking. I scored three goals. «
Startled Leyla opened her eyes and looked around. She looked straight into the eyes of the person that she was trying to avoid so much. Gabe was sitting next to her on the bench and was grinning at her. Oh no, shit. What was going on? This guy seemed to be everywhere today. »What do you want from me? « She flashed her eyes at him annoyed. He raised his hands disarmingly, and she noticed that he had exchanged the ridiculous shirt from before for an unobtrusive Super-Dry shirt. »Nothing, I mean it. I just wanted to apologize to you. I acted like a true asshole last year, and my shrink said that I should apologize to everyone I hurt with my behavior. «
Leyla couldn’t believe what she heard. It had to be a bad joke.
»Am I getting this right? In this case, you want to begin your round of apologies with me? Watching you and your gang it doesn't seem to me like anything has changed really! And above all, it's your fault that Gregory is dead. I'll never be able to forgive you for that. So please go and leave me in peace! « She just wanted to get up and leave, but he took her hand and softly pulled her closer. She didn't know what it was, but she was only able to pull away her hand using all the strength she had. What the hell was going on with her? This was Gabe, wake up girl and run, run away screaming as fast as you can. But she didn't do it, no she let it happen that he took her ice-cold hand into his warm hands again and listened to his lame apology. »Last year, I was like out of my senses, I was obsessed, obsessed with destroying the savior, but since I lost my powers, I have come back to my senses and asked myself why I was so full of hatred. To be honest, I should thank Gregory that he ended it all." Now he took both her hands in his and looked at her imploringly. »I want you to believe me that I'm truly sorry that he is dead, but I didn't shoot him, please believe me. It wasn't me. Even back then, I didn’t really want this« he added sheepishly while she was still looking at him angrily through narrow eyes. Slowly Leyla started to ask herself if she was dealing with a clone here. The true Gabe would never have acted this devotedly. And then he even went the extra mile and said »you know, I have changed. You must believe me. I know that I can't take back what I ‘ve done but I still want to apologize to you regardless of what you think about me. I just feel a little lighter this way and wanted to tell you this. « His eyes pierced hers again, and she shuddered deeply since he seemed so sincere but she knew exactly what a great actor Gabe was and what he was trying to accomplish. He touched her cheek softly, looked her deeply in the eyes and then got up.
